Punta Cana Hotels

IFA Villas Bavaro Resort & Spa

  • Beach has coconut palms for shade
  • Impressive medi-spa and gym
  • An attractive outdoor roofed theater (entertainment so-so), a happening disco, and the barista—Café Dominicano
  • Low rates but Wi-Fi and safe are not included

  • Insist on a newly renovated room as many complain that rooms are beat up from high occupancy, have broken fixtures, bad beds, noisy a/c, maintenance and stocking issues
  • Cheap, domestic label drinks only
  • Too much animation and loud music
  • Too many agressive sales people and vendors

Fodor's Review

If you're looking for a cheap all-inclusive, consider IFA, which has already been discovered by herds of cost-cutting international tourists as well as Dominicans. The beach is beautiful, with warm white sand and pale turquoise water, and snorkel gear, kayaks, and other nonmotorized water sports are included. Extensive day and night activities keep the many children and active adults busy. The seven restaurants will keep you fueled, but get reservations early if you want one of the à la carte ones. One of the best is the poolside pizzeria. Rooms and villas (cottages) look much better on the website but significant improvements to many have been made and renovations continue.
