InterContinental V Centenario

$, Santo Domingo

Fodor's Review:

For some years, this major Malecón property was not living up to the InterContinental image, and although still not one of the group's glamour resorts, it's now doing everything right. All rooms -- not just the luxe ones on the Club Level with sea-view balconies -- have been redone in subtle earth tones, more masculine than tropical cheery. Its international cuisine is memorable, from breakfasts and meeting breaks to gastronomic dinners. Service is professional, and conferences run smoothly. Leisure time can be spent on the swanky pool deck, where discerning attendants dispense frosty drinks and plush, pastel towels, or at the classy casino.
