When to Go to Dominica
Dominicans boast that they have the most spontaneous carnival in the region, Mas Domnik. It's fun to join a band, get all costumed and painted, and revel in the streets during Carnival Monday and Tuesday. Celebrations usually heat up the last 10 days or so before Ash Wednesday. Independence Day on November 3 celebrates not only Dominica's independence from Great Britain, but also the Creole culture. On the last weekend in October or first weekend of November, the awesome, three-day Annual World Creole Music Festival draws performers and Creole music enthusiasts from around the globe.
The high season is December to April, when many Americans and Europeans come. May 1 to November 1 is hurricane season.
