Fodor's Expert Review Floris Suite Hotel
Piscaderaweg, Willemstad, n/a Curaçao, Curaçao
Dutch interior designer Jan des Bouvrie has used warm mahogany shades offset by cool, sleek stainless-steel adornments in the suites of this modernist hotel, all of which have a balcony or porch and a full kitchen. The friendly staff go out of their way to make your stay comfortable, including stocking rooms with groceries if requested. A lush tropical garden surrounds the pool, and the beach and dive shop are across the street. Although aesthetically pleasing, the minimalist decor of the spacious suites and the stark open-air lobby give this hotel a somewhat aloof feel, perhaps making it better suited for business travel than for a romantic getaway.
PROS
- great for a quiet escape
- beautifully designed rooms and public spaces
CONS
- decor lacks romantic feel
- bit of a hike to decent shopping and restaurants
