Western Cuba Travel Guide

Air Travel

International flights go directly to Varadero and Cayo Largo from Canada, Mexico, and Europe, though most flights to Cayo Largo connect in Havana or Varadero. Outside of Havana, Varadero is the point best connected to the rest of Cuba by air. Cayo Largo is connected by domestic flights to Varadero, the Isla de la Juventud, and other points on the mainland.

Nueva Gerona's Aeropuerto Rafael Cabrera is 15 km (9 mi) south of town. The Pinar del Río airport, Aeropuerto Álvaro Barba, is 2 km (1 mi) north of town. The airport serving Varadero—Aeropuerto Juan Gualberto Gómez—is 16 km (10 mi) west of the peninsula.
