Boat and Ferry Travel

Ferries to Isla de la Juventud depart from Surgidero de Batabanó, 70 km (43 mi) south of Havana, at 8 am and arrive in Nueva Gerona's terminal on the Río Las Casas at around noon. Hydrofoil connections aboard the Russian-built Kometa are far faster, leaving Surgidero de Batabanó at 7 am and 4 pm for the two-hour trip. The ferry service costs 50 cuc each way.
