Fodor's Expert Review Cueva Punta del Este

About 60 km (38 miles) southeast of Nueva Gerona, this series of five coastal caves is famous for well-preserved, pre-Colombian wall paintings, sometimes referred to as "The Sistine Chapel of the Caribbean." Don't expect angels and human figures, but the colorful, geometric pictographs are intriguing.
