A stop here provides a look at the insides of a rum distillery—including a model central (sugar mill) with miniature steam engines—as well as the chance to taste añejo (aged rum) and to enter a raffle for a 12-year-old bottle of rum. The Casa del Conde de la Mortera, an elegant 18th-century mansion, offers an interesting look into Cuba's sugar industry and the craftsmen (such as the coopers, or barrel makers) who were a part of it. The Casa del Ron sells
rum on the premises. There's also a bar and the Casa del Habano for tobacco enthusiasts.
