Cable & Wireless (Cayman Islands) Ltd and Digicel Ltd. are the main providers. The area code for the Cayman Islands is 345. To make local calls (on or between any of the three islands), dial the seven-digit number. Credit cards and calling cards can be used to call worldwide from any phone and most hotels, though from the latter there's almost always a hefty surcharge, even to access toll-free access numbers for prepaid phone cards.

Almost everyone in the Cayman Islands has a cell phone. There are currently three suppliers of service: Cable & Wireless, Digicel, and TeleCayman. If you're bringing your own mobile phone and it's compatible with 850/1900 Mhz GSM network or TDMA digital network, you should be able to send and receive calls during your stay. Be sure, however, to check with your home provider to be sure that you have roaming service enabled. Mobile phone rental is also available from Cable & Wireless; you can stay connected for as little as CI$5 per day plus the cost of a calling card.
