This place is quiet, laid-back, and rustic: you can relax in the hammock shed with owner Sam McCoy and listen to his stories. Authentic Caymanian meals are prepared by the family matriarch, Sam's wife Mary, and served family-style in the large dining room overlooking the small pool and the ocean. Eight spartan rooms (aside from walls so vibrantly hued they're headache-inducing) have tiny private baths. McCoy's is a favorite for Saturday-evening barbecues under the stars at the beachside gazebo bar. The immediate area is filigreed with nature trails perfect for bird-watching and meditation. But the real lure is the location, right by Bloody Bay. Pros: true Caymanian warmth; ideal location for diving Bloody Bay. Cons: very bare no-frills decor; periodic problems with water pressure; mosquito problem during still summer days.
