Come here if you really want to connect with Cayman. Owner Chris is an affable, accomplished Caymanian artist who will teach you about local crafts. His wife, Trina, runs Cayman Traditional Arts and even offers complete massage services. Both will help you experience local foods and culture; many workshops are held in the traditional garden. Since it's in an inland residential area—complete with kids and dogs ½ mi (1 km) from Cobalt Coast Resort—you'll need a car (Andy's offers guests a 20% discount). The two cheapest rooms share a bath. The apartments, from studio to three-bedroom villa, feature all the comforts and functional decor given character by Caymanian crafts such as old bird traps. The rocky beach and ocean are 500 feet away. Pros: true Caymanian experience; intriguing demonstrations and workshops; good value especially with weekly packages. Cons: car necessary; no pool.
