Turtle Nest Inn and Condos Review

This affordable, intimate, Mediterranean-style seaside inn has roomy one-bedroom apartments and a pool overlooking a narrow beach with good snorkeling. You can find basic supplies some 10 minutes west at a shopping center in Savannah, but you'll still need to rent a car to get around. The apartments enchant, with arcaded balconies, beamed ceilings, black iron grillwork, vivid throw rugs, and stylish artworks. The two-bedroom condos have washer/dryer and dishwasher. The meticulous attention to detail is exceptional, from the high-thread-count sheets to the basket of suntan lotions in the lobby for forgetful guests. Other nice touches include World Phones with cheap fixed rates for rent; complimentary use of kayaks, rafts, and snorkeling gear; and fantastic packages including a rental car for weeklong stays.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of spending a week at the Turtle Nest Inn, and we could not have had a better time. The condo was new, clean and huge, the beach was beautiful (we really enjoyed the local snorkelling), the staff was friendly and knowledgable. The best part, for us, was the relaxing atmosphere. We really enoyed being away from the tourists on Seven Mile Beach, and loved feeling like we were hours away from it all, when in all actuality, we could get to town in less than 1/2 and hour. We really enjoyed our visit and cannot wait to return!

This was our second visit to paradise...Turtle Nest Inn. As was our first visit, Marleine, Alain, John, Donna and Sonia provided us with genuine hospitality, willingness to accommodate us, and made us feel right at home. Our unit was always impeccably clean! Another reason we like staying at Turtle Nest Inn is their location; it is ideally situated for visiting the whole island affording us easy access to the dive sites. This was another memorable and serene vacation. Plus, there is great snorkeling right in front of the Turtle Nest Inn! We will return again to Turtle Nest Inn on our next visit to the Cayman Islands. The Turtle Nesst Inn is an affordable and intimate inn with lots of panache. Thank you again to Marleine, Alain, and the staff.

Turtle Nest Inn is a delightful, romantic place in Boddentown, away from the 7-mile beach crowd in Georgetown but close enough to all the island attractions.

It is clean, roomy, and well-appointed with TV, stereo, DVR, and phone, as well as free wireless internet access. The hosts, Alain and Marleine, make you feel welcome like members of the family while helping out with details like dive reservations, restaurant suggestions, and sharing local lore.

Best of all, there is great snorkeling right outside the inn. We've seen trunk fish, queen angel fish, stoplight parrot fish, gobies, barracudas, bar jacks, stingrays, porcupine fish and more. There is a barrier reef just beyond the reef so often the Inn's waters are calm when other parts of the island are windy and rough.

The feeling at the inn is private and romantic. You can watch the sunrise over the water in the morning, walk along the secluded beach in the afternoon, and snorkel there at the reef every day. Boddentown has restaurants, local crafts, historic buildings, and lots of character. There is a bird sanctuary nearby as well as quick access to diving on the East End of Grand Cayman.

Each of the 8 units at the inn, as well as the units at the condo, have fully equipped kitchens, which represents a savings for those on a budget and also provides the opportunity to have breakfast, lunch or dinner while enjoying the fantastic view from the patio or balcony. There is a propane grill on the deck by the pool where we prepared fresh fish bought on the island. We have used the washer and dryer as well as the small lending library of paperback books and DVDs. There’s no other place on Grand Cayman that compares to it. It’s a great value, and provides an incomparable vacation experience.

We have stayed at Turtle Nest Inn 5 times now, and it has never disappointed us. We will definitely return.

We booked this condo because of its distinguished fodors choice symbol. However we were severely disappointed, calling this one of the best in the caribbean is a severe misnomer. The atmosphere here is perfect if you want to do nothing. Everything is 20 minutes to an hour away. The island definately still hasnt rebuilt from the hurricane, many homes are still bored up. It is a big eye sore for the island, along with how most other caribbean islanders are very festive, this island seems dilapidated. The only good thing was the amount of space you got for your money and the fact that the front desk had an extensive DVD collection.
