Part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, this swanky resort is located on a 250-acre island near Tortola's Beef Island Airport. It's a posh getaway for vacationers who want to relax around the pool or beach; enjoy a water-sports excursion or two; or be pampered at the spa. Many guests enjoy sunning at the fabulous pool, a two-level affair with stellar views. The rooms are elegant and spacious with dark wood furniture and colorful accents. They stretch out around the marina,
dining, and shopping areas. For a bit more privacy, head over to the resort's North Beach. It has a pool and lots of private spaces along the beach.
Scrub Island, British Virgin Islands
Apr 24, 2013
Our family of 5 vacationed at Scrub Island in 2011. It was quite an adventure to get to Scrub Island...think planes, trains and automobiles :) Once we finally arrived, we were in awe of the beautiful Scrub Island accommodations. The resort has suites and condos which is perfect for families. Also, the pool area is perfect for kids with a great slide. At the time of our stay, the resort did not offer babysitting services or a kids club which was
a negative for a family with young children. The main beach area is small and we did not have beach service which was disappointing. However, we have noted that the resort has added a water trampoline in the area of the bay which is a fantastic addition to the amenities. Also, there is a larger beach area called the North Beach which the staff will take you by golf cart. The top two reasons we loved Scrub Island were : 1- The location. If you yearn to island hop around the BVI's then Scrub Island is a great luxury resort to lay your head at night. I wrote a blog post about our day trips while staying at Scrub Island at Http://www.ChicFamilyTravels.com 2- The views. The view from the Scrub Island were amazing. The water is some of the clearest blue water I have ever seen. Also, you can take a resort kayak and snorkel within a five minute kayak trip from the resort. If you are staying at Scrub Island I have a couple of tips for you! 1- Have groceries delivered to the resort from a grocery delivery service in Tortola. Scrub Island has a small provisioning store but it is very SMALL and most likely will not have all the things you want for a week stay which leads me to the second tip. 2- We did not fall in love with the restaurants at Scrub Island. They were not bad, just not the best we have ever had. Take the ferry off the resort and have dinner out or cook in. The condos are outfitted with chef-style kitchens :) 3- If you fly into St Thomas, look for a private ferry service to get you to Scrub Island to avoid the long and aggravating public ferry service.
