Although the service draws complaints, the management has been addressing the frosty attitude of some staff members. Long Bay Beach Resort is still Tortola's only choice if you want all the resort amenities, including a beach, scads of water sports, tennis courts, and even a pitch-and-putt golf course. Accommodations range from traditional hotel rooms to three-bedroom villas, with lots of choices in between. All have a modern tropical feel with rattan furniture and brightly colored fabrics. Given its relative isolation on the northwest shore, you may not be inclined to make many excursions. Luckily, the Garden Restaurant serves romantic dinners.

We have just returned from Long Bay and are already planning a longer return trip.
The Beach and Bay is just beautiful with Smugglers Cove just around the corner. The setting is breath taking and the people and staff are friendly and helpful. It probably helps to open and friendly yourself. The 2 restaurants are pretty good but there are other local restaurants if you want a change, Sugar Mill is the nearest.
A slight querk seemed to be that they did not always seem to have the ingredients for what was on the menu but would do "something like it".
My only moan would be that our room had a problem with the aircon dripping condensation. We were only there for 3 days otherwise I would have asked to be moved (we Brits rarely complain!)
The resort is beautiful and not too busy and while on it own grounds does not seem isolated from the rest of the community which some of these resorts can be. Taxi pick ups from the airport seem to be the norm and Long Beach is right over in the west end of the island, so exect a $35-40 fare each way.
This review may appear a little critical but go - you will love it!
