It's well worth the winding hilly drive or sometimes-rough sail to get to Taboo, where there's a sophisticated menu and a welcoming attitude. Located on Jost's mostly undeveloped East End, Taboo is less of a party bar than Foxy's in Great Harbour but usually has a great breeze and scenic views. You'll find specialties with a Mediterranean twist like eggplant cheesecake, kabobs, and hot-from-the-oven pizza. The lunch menu differs from the standard island fare. Even the
burgers are a step up from average, and the salads are the best on the island. Coupled with a walk to the nearby Bubbly Pool (ask for a map at the bar), a visit to Taboo is a good way to while away a few hours. Dinner reservations are required by 4 pm.
