Karel's Beach Bar

Fodor's choice

This legendary "beach bar" is one of the island's first hangouts, but it is really on its own pier in the heart of downtown and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with great views of the cruise port. Lively happy hours and musical theme nights and revelry make it a favorite after-dark. Check the Facebook page for special events.

Little Havana

Fodor's choice

Little Havana is the place to mix and mingle with locals and other visitors while listening to DJs or jazz and other jam sessions. Prepare to get up close and personal with modelesque blondes, handsome Antilleans, and oldsters alike. The place gets so packed, crowds spill into the streets, drinking into the wee hours. Happy hour is a favorite, but the witching hours are from 11 pm until 2 am. The bartenders mix up the island's best caipirinhas, and the cigar humidor is stocked with selections from Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
