Any restaurant that welcomes you with a free glass of Kir and a personal greeting from the owner should be taken very seriously. Patrice Rannou has transformed an unassuming house into a lovely bistro serving the best French food on the island. The low-key decor (complete with Perrier-bottle vases) belies the extraordinary food on offer. Lamb-lovers will fall to pieces over the char-grilled chops served with haricots verts and asparagus. The dinner menu is very reasonably priced, but those on an extremely tight budget should at least explore the lunch offerings. Those with kids and a lot of patience may want to try the novelty of the grill stone, which lets diners cook their own meal at the table. Many patrons choose to dine on the outdoor patio.
