With near-constant breezes and calm waters, Bonaire is consistently ranked among the best places in the world for windsurfing. Lac Bay, a protected cove on the east coast, is ideal for windsurfing. The island's windsurfing companies are headquartered there on Sorobon Beach.

Bonaire Windsurf Place. The Bonaire Windsurf Place, commonly referred to as "the Place," rents the latest Hot Sails Maui, Starboard, and RRD equipment for $144 for a two-day rental. A one-hour group lesson costs $50; private lessons are $80 per hour (these rates do not include equipment, which adds at least $40 to the price). Groups are generally limited to four people. Jibe City. Jibe City offers lessons for $50 (includes board and sail for beginners only); board rentals start at $25 an hour, $50 for a half day. There are pickups at all the hotels at 9 am and 1 pm; ask your hotel to make arrangements. Sorobon Beach. 599/717-5233 or. www.jibecity.com.
