Way off the main tourist trail in a remote corner of St. David's, the Black Horse is a dark horse, or at least a well-kept local secret. Its beer garden overlooks a picturesque bay dotted with fishing boats and tiny islands. This is a great place for island originals: fish chowder and curried conch stew with rice are favorites, as are the straightforward renderings of amberjack, rockfish, shark, tuna, wahoo, and Bermuda lobster. Just about everything is deep-fried, so if that doesn't suit, request it be cooked the way you like.

The best meal we had on our vacation was at the Black Horse Tavern. It's kind of out of the way, but well worth it. I've been talking about how good the fish was since we ate there!! It's a definite must try!!!!
