Bermuda's scaled down version of Ocean Avenue in South Beach, this is the place to see and be seen on a hot summer night. The outside dining area is bustling most evenings, especially Friday, so arrive early. Inside, you'll be transported to Italy with little shuttered windows and traditional brick walls covered in pictures from the family album. Start with calamari or garlic bread, the two starters the restaurant is renown for. The pizzas are the best, and we especially favor the pepperoni and artichoke variety. The Bistecca and the fettuccine Alfredo pasta are delicious. Prices and portions are good, too. A separate take-out section with its own entrance means you can get the good food while avoiding people-watchers. If it's busy, be prepared to wait.

If you need comfort food and missing a little bit of home go to Portofino for dinner.
The food is nothing special, but perfect if you need something simple and down home. Service is excellent and that is something to write home about.
Be prepared to wait for a table. The place is very popular and very family friendly.

If you screw up an order, don't lie and say you didn't.

We sat for about 45 minutes after our order was taken and saw no sign of the order or waiter. However we kept seeing many customers who came in long after us being served and leaving. We finally motioned a waiter to come over to our table. The waiter said he would look into what happened. However a good 20 minutes passed and still no order, so we asked the waiter who took our order to see what happened. He went and came back and said it was coming. My husband asked what the delay was and why so many customers that came in long after us were already served, finished and had left while we were still waiting. The waiter angrily denied that there was any problem or delays with our order and insisted that everything was on time. However in the distance we could see several waiters looking at our table and discussing something amongst themselves and the chef. The chef was shaking his head. Suddenly out of no where, a waiter came to our table with 4 glasses of wine and offered it to us. However the arguing waiter continued with his denial and did not notice that behind him a waiter was coming with wine as a peace offering to our table. If our order was on time, why is it that the waiter that was not part of the scene come over with wine, while the other waiter was still arguing? We were made to feel awkward and like trouble makers. It was an embarrassing scene. It has been a long, long time since we have had such terrible service and certainly never Bermuda. Also any time, we have had bad service the waiter or waitress was civil enough to take responsibility. The moral of the story is if you screwed up and forgot to submit the order, do not lie and insist that nothing went wrong. What happened with good old customer service skills? P.S. The food was only so, so, after all the fuss and hassle too. Too bad the bill already came with the tip included as there would have been a zero for tip.
