This restaurant and small hotel in a former private house on Hamilton Harbour serves traditional Continental specialties, such as lamb and veal, plus a number of Bermudian dishes, including just-off-the-boat fish. The menu changes every day, and you can't go wrong with any choice. Fish can be grilled or panfried upon request. Anton Mosimann of Horizons is the restaurant's consultant chef. You can dine either on the waterside patio (in good weather) or in the more formal dining room, with its deep-raspberry walls, rich chintzes, and attractive lighting. Fodors.com users are full of praise for the menu, but have criticized the slow service. Jacket and tie after 6 pm

It will always be one of our favorites

We also dinned in July on the Poinciana Terrace. Our quartet wore appropriate dinner clothing, however a Tie is no longer required & jacket preferred but not mandatory. Our service was excellent as was the food. The entertainment was lively "calypso" as was the crowd of Tournament Anglers!! We just soaked up all the enthusiasm and also returned to Horizons for a quite more romantic dinner. Since The Waterloo is located nearer to the Business District, many business dinners are here through out the week. We still find it to be one of our favorites. Will be retuning to dine here again this July and post any appropriate changes, which I hope will not be necessary. Bon Appetite to all.

Standards Are Slipping

We ate here on our recent trip to Bermuda in July of '06. Let me start out by saying that the food and service were excellent. The lobster in aspic appetizer was too die for, and was big enough to be an entree.
The chocolate souffle, however, had little chocolate taste. The tea and coffee were weak, which is unusual for this British colony. Also, the cheese selections for the cheese plate were mediocre and hard to distinguish.
That said, I wish that the restaurant would adhere to the dress code that they advertise. I had packed a suit, several collared shirts and ties for my husband because I had reserved dinner at the Waterloo house. At the table next to us, were two couples where one gentleman sported a New York Yankees t-shirt. The great irony was that this "charming" quartet were in the clothing manufacturing business. They were loud and obnoxious, and ruined an otherwise pleasant evening. We then moved to another table for dessert, where we could not help but overhear a younger trio discuss stock portfolios. Do any of the diners at Waterloo realize that they are in Bermuda, eating wonderful food with a pretty view of the Hamilton harbour? Are these people capable of leaving work at work? Or do these people find the history, beaches, coves, shopping, snorkeling, wreck diving, golf and tennis too pedestrian to discuss while on vacation.
For my first trip to Bermuda, my husband and I were a bit put off by the Bermudian adherance to formality in dress and mannerisms. After this experience, however, my husband never complained about wearing a suit and tie for dinner in the hot Bermuda heat again. We returned to Horizons the next night for dinner, where people appeared to have a good time and discussed the wonderful things about Bermuda.

Ahhh, you're in Bermuda and you're at peace. The dinner at Waterloo will add further good feelings to your vacation. I had the Taster's Menu and it was perfectly portioned and done just right. Service was excellent, but a bit slow. But hey, your on vacation, it's supposed to be slow. Definitely, don't miss this one. Dinner is served waterside.

Nice Place, good food, service could be better

We have been there several times already. It belonged to the famous Relais & Châteaux chain, but does not any more. Still a nice place. Service could be more attentive and the chairs on the terrace (second row) are very uncomfortable.
