Veterans of London pub crawls may feel nostalgic at this dark, wood-filled watering hole off Front Street. Those die-hard aficionados of old-style British comfort food will adore the Yorkshire pudding, shepherd's pie, steak-and-kidney pie, fish-and-chips, and bangers and mash. You can work up an appetite just deciding from the impressive burger selection, and the British ale on tap will wash the food down nicely. This is Hamilton's oldest licensed establishment, opened in 1957. From May to October there's live music every night, with local singer Will Black always attracting a crowd.

We enjoyed the Hog Penny. Neat atmosphere with a very friendly staff. I had the Shepherd's Pie, which was very good.

March 2009. Expensive for what you get! Average tasting food and very little of it. Bread?, sure! just pay extra! If you like pubs, go there for just a beer or skip it!
