Fodor's Review:

This is a great spot for lunch or dinner, with impressive views across the golf course and out to the sea. There's standard American cuisine, including steaks and ribs, but the eclectic chefs like to add bold flavors with lots of exotic herbs and spices. The wide variety of fresh seafood is your best bet. Follow up your fish chowder with lobster, yellowfin tuna, rockfish, snapper, or wahoo. Those with huge appetites can try the Axis Burger challenge: if you can eat the two pound hamburger and all the trimmings, the restaurant will pay for your meal. It's definitely worth a try, but it's not as easy as it sounds!

Blu has an excellent view of Hamilton Harbour. I treated my visiting mom to dinner on a Saturday night. At 5:30, The restaurant was literally empty with no customers because they were not open yet. We dropped by to see if we could get a table for six. I feel thirty minutes prior is still a reservation. We were told no problem. We waited until opening, still the only guests, and was not allowed to choose a table closest to the window. This annoyed me very much since, it is off season, there are hardly any tourists, and the restaurant is EMPTY! My mother loves early dining, we are used to being the first for dinner, and we have never been denied choice seating, especially when the restaurant has no guests. The hostess and the maitre'd (or whomever he was) ruined it for me. For the sake of my visiting mom we stayed. The food was excellent as well as the servers. I won't be going back because the hostess lost sight of customer service in her rigidness of 'did you make a reservation?'.

Reservations are meant to ensure one a table because the restaurant is BOOKED from BEGINNING to end or during peak hours. Therefore, those that call before coming get seated before those that just show up. An empty dining room and no bookings for a solid hour(7pm. Yes, he admitted this.) screams let them sit where they want.

Blu, a restaurant on an island that is starving for tourists and relies on locals for a strong four months of the year, needs to re-evaluate the service at the front.
