Known for its sandy bottom and shallow water, Shelly Bay is a good place to take small children. It also has shade trees, a rarity at Bermudian beaches. A playground behind the beach attracts hordes of youngsters on weekends and during school holidays. A nearby soccer and cricket practice field and a public basketball court are handy when you want to blow off some steam. Pros: shallow beach and adjoining playground for kids, on-site Jamaican food eatery, fun water rentals. Cons: noisy street traffic, lots of kids during summer camps, good swimming spots are hard to find during low tide.
