Fodor's Review

In an elegant former mansion just outside downtown Hamilton, Ascots gives you a wonderful excuse to leave the city. The high standards of owners Angelo Armano and Edmund Smith result in creative and seasonal menu offerings that incorporate fresh ingredients from local farmers and fishermen. For something different, start off with the chilled banana soup with black rum—it's unusual but very popular. Main courses include the Bermuda fish cakes with citrus curry sauce and

fruit chutney, caramelized tuna steak, and char-grilled 16-ounce rib-eye steak. Save room for dessert as raspberry and white chocolate crème brûlée are on the menu. An extensive wine list is available to complement your meal. You can relax on the sofas surrounding the handsome cedar bar or on the patio at the casual sister restaurant, Just 24.
