Hamilton Wiltshire uses red Barbadian clay to create beautiful pieces such as tableware, mugs, and pots using environmentally friendly glazes; custom pieces can be ordered. Known affectionately as "Hammi," Hamilton himself is charming and very welcoming to those who visit his studio. Call ahead to ensure that Hamilton is in the studio.
Artist and gallery owner Vanita Comissiong offers an array of original paintings by Barbadian artists, along with handmade arts and crafts and jewelry products. Additional galleries are located at Limegrove Lifestyle Centre in Holetown and in a dedicated space at Champers restaurant in Rockley on the South Coast.
The main store on Broad Street sells an array of clothing for men, women, and children; makeup and perfume; jewelry; and souvenirs and luxury goods at duty-free prices. Branches are at Holetown's Sunset Crest mall on the West Coast, at the Vista shopping complex in Worthing, and at Sheraton Mall in Sargeants on the South Coast; the airport departure lounge and cruise ship terminal also each have a boutique.
Every Saturday morning, hundreds of people (both expat and local) make their way to Brighton Farmers' Market to explore the great selection of food items and crafts from a wide range of Barbadian producers and artisans. This is a family-friendly event, hosted on the grounds of Brighton plantation and farm between 6 and 10 am. There is a playground and live music.
