Round House Review

Owners Robert and Gail Manley oversee the menu for guests staying in their inn, tourists enjoying the east coast, and Bajans dining out. The lunch menu—served on the deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean—includes homemade soups and quiches, sandwiches, salads, and pasta. Dinner choices—served in the moonlight—extend from shrimp scampi, oven-baked dolphin steak, or grilled flying-fish fillet to baked ham, sirloin steak, or homemade pasta specials. Some people come just for the flying-fish pâté. Rolls and breads (whether for sandwiches or dessert), along with apple and coconut pies, are personally made by the owners. The Round House is an ocean-facing manse-turned-inn built in 1832. From the outdoor dining deck, the view of ocean waves smashing on the rugged coastline is mesmerizing.

    Round House Review

Everyone who comes to Barbados should visit Bathsheba, a small town on an Eastern hillside surrounded by trees above and sandy beaches below, fringed by the white surf of the Atlantic waves. The Round House sits just above a beach and you can watch expert surf riders entertain themselves and you as you eat your meal. This restaurant was warmly recommended by friends.
The flying fish pate was a little too bland to start with, while the grilled mahi mahi for main course was simple but delicious. The problem was that this took 1 3/4 hours and we only discovered later that they had "staff problems". There is only so long that you can gaze at the view, even if it is really delightful.
This is a simple menu and the restaurant is very popular. I imagine that we were just unlucky. If the service were better and all the food like our main course we would go back again.
