Sea-U Guest House Review

Uschi Wetzels, a German travel writer in an earlier life, became smitten with the wild and woolly east coast of Barbados while on assignment and returned in 1999 to build this tiny wooden guesthouse. The main house, built in the traditional colonial style, has four simple guest rooms on the ground floor; each has a kitchenette (no stove for cooking), patio, and ceiling fan. Two suites on the top floor, one with a full kitchen, can be combined as a two-bedroom apartment. A cottage next door has two air-conditioned studios, also with kitchenettes, that can be connected to become a large suite. The property, perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, is thick with palm trees and other tropical foliage. A casual restaurant offers a full breakfast each day and a three-course, fixed-price (inexpensive) dinner three nights a week prepared by Wetzels and her Bajan chef.
