Crane Beach Review

This exquisite crescent of pink sand on the southeast coast was named not for the elegant long-legged wading bird but for the crane used to haul and load cargo when this area served as a busy port. Crane Beach usually has a steady breeze and lightly rolling surf that varies in color from aqua to turquoise to lapis and is great for bodysurfing. Access to the beach is either down 98 steps or via a cliff-side, glass-walled elevator on The Crane resort property. Amenities: food and drink; lifeguards; parking (free); toilets. Best for: swimming; walking.

    Crane Beach Review

The beach is exquisite but it is a bit overrated, probably through publicity stunts by the Resort located above. There are other great beaches at Bottom bay on the SOuth Coast. The beach has 100 steps for descent from the access road. The resort itself charges 25 Barbadian dollars to access via their steps. They also have surly security at the entrance who might not be too happy that you wish to access the beach.
