Island Activities

There's always something to do in Barbados, and that's the way most visitors like it. The soft, white beaches are good whether you choose to stay in the millionaire's row of resorts on the west coast or the more-affordable south coast.

Exceptional golf courses bring a lot of players to the island, but the private courses—at Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane—aren't for the light of wallet.

The island's restaurant scene is impressive; you can choose from street-party barbecue to international cuisine that rivals the finest dining on the planet.

Getting out on the water is the favored activity, whether that's on a snorkeling day sail, in a mini-sub,on a deep-sea fishing boat, or from a dive boat to explore the island's reefs and wrecks.

In season—from December through April—the conditions around the southern tip of Barbados are ideal for windsurfing. All year long, the pounding surf of the east coast draws surfers to the Bathsheba Soup Bowl, but the Independence Classic is the highlight every November.
