Newspapers & Magazines

You'll get all the Bahamian news and a good idea of what's going on internationally in the Tribune, Bahama Journal, and Nassau Guardian on New Providence and in the Freeport News on Grand Bahama. The twice-weekly tabloid, The Punch, enjoys the highest circulation of locally produced papers and also delivers the most "sip-sip" -- Bahamian slang for gossip. These local newspapers are available in most of the Out Islands one day after publication. If you want up-to-date news on what's happening around the world, you can also get the Miami Herald, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and the New York Times daily at newsstands in the larger resort areas.

Television

Cable and satellite TV are widely available throughout the Bahamas, and at the very least, hotels that offer TV usually give guests a choice of the major networks, CNN, and ESPN. Luxury hotels often have a much bigger selection. The local TV station is ZNS, but it has a limited number of locally produced programs and offers up a schedule that consists largely of old movies, soap operas, and sports programming.
