Hotel Higgins Landing Review

Laid out on undeveloped Stocking Island is this eco-hotel that is 100% solar powered—though everything still works when the weather's overcast. Wood cottages have louvered jalousie windows with dark-green shutters and private spacious decks with ocean views. Interiors have antiques, queen-size beds, tile floors, and folksy Americana furnishings. By day, the bar is an alfresco living room where you can play checkers or darts, or read books from the hotel's library. Colorful blossoms and tropical birds abound. Rates in one-bedroom cottages include an outstanding dinner for two; two-bedroom cottage rates include dinner for four.
