Abaco Ceramics offers its signature white-clay pottery with a variety of island and sea inspired designs. The Royal fish pattern remains a favorite.
This shop is popular with boaters, who stock up on duffel bags, briefcases, hats, and purses, all made from duck, a colorful, sturdy canvas fabric traditionally used for sails.
Bags of all sizes are made by hand out of sails in the upstairs workshop. Some of the sails are new, others are recycled. Sailors consider an old sail from their boat a fair trade for one of the stylish duffel bags, purses, or totes.
More than 30 different products are made using locally grown neem trees at this shop and production plant. Salves, soaps, and lotions are organic and in many cases claim to offer medicinal benefits against skin conditions, arthritis, and even hypertension. Abaco Neem also produces an entire range of pet products. Call or email in advance to arrange a tour of the production facility and nearby farm. Tours take about one hour and are $25 per person with a two person minimum. Book your tour in advance.
At Marsh Harbour's traffic light, look for the lime green Abaco Treasures and their curious selection of fine china, crystal, perfumes, Bahamian books, and gifts.
Here you'll find a wide selection of souvenirs, beach wraps, T-shirts, arts and crafts, and Cuban cigars.
This shop is on the upper-path road in a renovated Loyalist home. Come here for such Bahamian gifts as batik clothes, original driftwood carvings and prints, and nautical jewelry. They even sell the brightly colored Androsia fabric by the yard. Browse through the extensive Bahamian book collection.
This store, inside a bright peach-and-turquoise building, is your best bet for hats, sandals, tropical jewelry, sportswear, and souvenirs. If you are looking for gifts to take back home, you should be able to find something cool here.
This store sells paintings by local artists, books, clothing, and other nautically oriented gifts, but the most interesting souvenirs are the half models of sailing dinghies. These mahogany models, which are cut in half and mounted on boards, are meant to be displayed as wall hangings. Artist Joe Albury, one of the store's owners, also crafts full, 3-D boat models.
The gallery displays original bronzes by the Johnstons, as well as unique gold jewelry, prints, and gifts.
This shop sells Cuban cigars and more than 60 kinds of rum. For something completely different, get there early, order one of their famous breakfast sandwiches and brag to your friends that you had breakfast in a liquor store. You can even get the T-shirt to show you've been there, done that.
This shop sells resort wear and jewelry. Look for the locally made Abaco gold necklaces and earrings.
Sid's has the most complete line of groceries on the island, plus a gift section that includes books on local Bahamian subjects. You can also buy conch fritter batter here.
Sip an iced latte or a strong mug of Hope Town roasted coffee, or indulge in a made-from-scratch Nutella Blissuccino while admiring the smattering of ceramics, paintings, carved wooden boats, and other locally produced creations.
Golden Reef sells jewelry, including Abaco Gold jewelry made in Marsh Harbour, plus resort wear, kids' clothing, swimwear, and gifts.
Pick up some island-appropriate outfits for your vacation in this small yellow store right at the foot of the ferry dock. They also sell sea glass jewelry and other trinkets. It's the only place in Abaco that carries the full line of Bahama Hand Prints clothing.
This quaint gallery, located in a fully restored, century-old home, showcases the works of local artists and offers monthly art workshops overlooking the stunning ocean out back.
This is the only shop in Hope Town that carries the lovely Abaco ceramics handmade in Treasure Cay. It also sells home decorations, handmade dishware and glasses, wind chimes, sandals, resort wear, jewelry, and island music.
On the water across from the entrance to the Abaco Beach Resort, John Bull sells Rolex and other brand-name watches, fine jewelry by designers such as David Yurman and Yvel, and makeup and perfume from Chanel, Christian Dior, Clinique, and Lancôme. Fine leather goods, silk ties and scarves, and cool sunglasses are also on hand.
Stop here to pick up one of Vert Lowe's handcrafted two-mast schooners or sloops. Model prices range anywhere from $100 to $1,200. If Vert's shop door is locked—and it often is—knock at the white house with bright pink shutters next door. If you're still unsuccessful, inquire at the Green Turtle Club, where Vert worked for more than 30 years. He recently retired, but still builds his model boats.
