Small, intimate hotels and cottage-style resorts are the rule in the Abacos. There are, however, a few full-scale resorts, like Treasure Cay Hotel Resort and Marina, and Abaco Beach Resort & Boat Harbour, with multiple restaurants, bars, pools, and features like tennis courts, but most accommodations are beachside condos, houses, or cottages, or hotels with just a handful of rooms and a single small restaurant. What you may give up in modern amenities and bells and whistles like spas or 24-hour room service, you'll gain in privacy and beauty. Many hotels have water views, and with a cottage or private house you may even get your own stretch of beach. Although accommodations tend to be simple, air-conditioning has become a standard feature, and more places are adding previously unheard-of luxuries like satellite TV, in-room phones, DVD players, and wireless Internet access. Again, small and remote doesn't equate with inexpensive; it's just about impossible to find lodging for less than $100 a night, and not uncommon to pay more than $300 a night for beachside accommodations with all the conveniences.
