Hotel Higgins Landing

Fodor's Review:

The only resort on undeveloped Stocking Island is this ecohotel, which is 100% solar powered—though everything still works when the weather's overcast. Wood cottages have screen windows with dark-green shutters and private, spacious decks with ocean views. Interiors have antiques, queen-size beds, tile floors, and folksy Americana decor. By day, the bar is an alfresco living room where you can play checkers or darts, or read books from the hotel's library. Colorful blossoms and tropical birds abound. Rates include gourmet dinners, though be aware that the kitchen cannot accommodate any special dietary requests.

  • Hotel Details: 4 cottages
  • In-room: no phone, kitchen.
  • In-hotel: restaurant, bar, gym, beachfront, water sports, Wi-Fi hotspot, no-smoking rooms, no kids under 12.
  • Rate includes: 2 meals
