Compass Point

Fodor's Review:

Closed since hurricanes Frances and Jeanne caused major damage in 2004, the complex of cottages painted in colliding colors, built by Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, finally reopened in December 2006. The 18 cottages and smaller cabanas have been restored to their original ebullient colors, and the outdoor restaurant, where neighbor Sean Connery frequently had dinner, is also open. The resort is represented by Blackwell's Island Outpost but is no longer owned by Blackwell, although he still owns Compass Studio across the road, where musicians from the Rolling Stones to Joss Stone have recorded. Guests have a choice of studio-cabanas or one- and two-bedroom cottages, all with views of the ocean.
