The all-inclusive, high-rise Riu is not as grand as Atlantis next door, but it isn't far from its neighbor's casino and shares a quieter bit of the same lovely beach. The price per person includes meals, snacks, drinks, activities, entertainment, taxes, and gratuities.

Our First All-Inclusive Experience - A Pleasant Surprise.

The Riu was quite pleasing over all.
Room:
3/5 Nice ocean view. Run down, but clean. Vintage 1990 decor. Unless you expect the Ritz you won't be disappointed though.
Spa:
4/5 The staff was great and the massage excellent. The spa isn't much to look at, but who cares? Your eyes ought to be blissfully closed anyway.
Internet service:
2/5 No in-room service. Small lobby café.
Gym:
3/5 Small and modestly equipped, gets the job done.
Front Desk:
5/5 Efficient and friendly.
Food:
4/5 We ate at the buffet every day and were rarely disappointed. More staff bussing tables would be nice. If you're on a diet you may find yourself eating a lot of salad.
Bar:
4/5 mixed drinks and service. 0/5 for the wine. Horrible swill!
Mini bar:
3/5 Hard to get re-stocked. 4L of booze in the room.
Pool:
4/5 Nice but not heated. The jacuzzi is not a hot tub. For swimming the temperature is "just right" while the sun is out.
Beach:
5/5 Beautiful sand and clear water invite you to leave the pool area behind. Plenty of loungers.
Miscellany:
I definitely recommend this hotel for a safe, clean getaway. The only downside is smokers. There were smokers everywhere! You can smoke nearly everywhere at the Riu which I personally find unpleasant. We went into the night club in the middle of the afternoon and it reeked so badly we just walked on through. Noisy at night, hire better musicians :-).
I would stay here again.
