From the top of Mt. Thompson, rising from the beach, there is a pleasing view of the Three Sisters Rocks jutting above the water just offshore. During your walks, you may glimpse peacocks on Great Exuma. Originally, a peacock and a peahen were brought to the island as pets by a man named Shorty Johnson, but when he left to work in Nassau, he abandoned the birds, who gradually proliferated into a colony. The birds used to roam the streets but development has forced them into the bush, so they are rarer sights these days. Mt. Thompson is about 12 mi north of George Town, past Moss Town.
