Governor's Harbour

Fodor's Review:

Governor's Harbour is where the intrepid Eleuthera Adventurers landed. The drive between Governor's Harbour and Rock Sound takes about 35 minutes. Some of the island's wealthiest residents live in this pretty Victorian town looped around the harbor. If you're here when the mail boats M/V Bahamas Daybreak III and M/V Eleuthera Express chug in, you'll witness the sight of residents unloading cars, mattresses, lumber, mail, stacks of vegetables, and other household necessities. You might also see the same Eleutherans loading their own vegetables for export to Nassau. While they're here, they'll stop in at their mailboxes at the small post office in the town's pink government building.

If you're cooking during your stay, note that the Governor's Harbour waterfront is a great place to buy fresh fish and conch.
