Fodor's Review:

The luxurious Four Seasons is the only full-service resort on Great Exuma Island. When it opened in 2003, it changed the island's guesthouse demeanor, causing an upswing in the upscale. The 470 acres of pristine grounds lie adjacent to a mile-long strip of beach. There's an elaborate spa with two-person treatment rooms for couples, and a casino, as well as water sports, tennis courts, the island's only golf course, and a children's area with its own pool. Guests stay in lemon-yellow colonial-style villas clustered on landscaped grounds. Rooms are decorated in rich, dark woods and rattan offset by pastel walls and sunny artwork. Each room has its own patio or balcony facing the bay. The emphasis is on service, with custom-stocked bars in each room and a 24-hour beach butler. The resort's three restaurants have Bahamian and Continental dishes, heavy on the seafood. The signature restaurant, Il Cielo, looks out toward the sea through gaping windows and serves fine pastas, risottos, and seafood. The newest restaurant, Ting'm, sits outdoors at the edge of one of Exuma's most gorgeous beaches.

I have travelled to the Caribbean quite extensively over the past eight years. I have stayed at such resorts as the Buccaneer and Carambola in St. Croix. U have also stayed at the Four Seasons in Maui, Boston, San Francisco and New York. My wife and I chose the Four Seasons because we wanted the exceptional service you normally get with the Four Seasons. I can't say that we were disappointed in the slightest. The room was typical Four Seasons-large bathroom with double sink, separate shower and bath and very well appointed. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. When I asked a manager to arrange playing 9 holes instead of 18 (although not normally allowed) he arranged it for me-I actually ended up playing 18 and they still only charged me for 9. The back 9 was amazingly beautiful. Bring alot of balls. The beach was for the most part extremely clean. They dragged the beach fairly frequently. Typical white sand aqua blue caribbean beach. Two small complaints-we waited over twenty minutes for our transportation from the airport (which we arranged through the hotel) and the water was a little cooler than expected (probably 68/69 degrees). I mention the water only b/c I've been to other Caribbean beaches with warmer water. It is very possible this is because we were there in February. The explanation regarding the taxi from the airport was that not some drivers were not working that night. A couple we met paid a little more and had a taxi waiting there for them-if that matters to you. Just remember that although it is a Four Seasons it is still a Caribbean island and you are on island time-just sit back and relax and you will have a great time. A final note-I wouldn't bother going into Georgetown to eat-the cab ride is expensive ($100.00 for us) and the food is not worth the cost-$200.00 for us and another couple)-spend your money on the restaurants at the hotel.
