Cape Santa Maria

Fodor's Review:

Columbus originally named the island's northern tip Cape Santa Maria in honor of one of his ships. He called the entire island Fernandina, out of respect for his Spanish sponsor. Cape Santa Maria is known for its irresistibly dazzling beaches, which are considered among the best in the country.
