Most visitors to the Abacos make their first stop on Great Abaco Island's east coast at Marsh Harbour, the Bahamas' third-largest city and the Abacos' commercial center. Besides having the biggest international airport in the Abacos, Marsh Harbour is considered by boaters to be one of the easiest harbors to enter. It has several full-service marinas, including the 190-slip Boat Harbour Marina and the 80-slip Conch Inn Marina.
Stock up on groceries and supplies here on the way to other islands. The downtown area has several supermarkets with a better selection than the sometimes limited supplies on the smaller islands, as well as a few department and hardware stores. Most of the gift shops are on the main street, which has the island's only traffic light. If you need cash, this is the place to get it as well; the banks here are open every day and have ATMs, neither of which you will find true on the smaller, more remote cays. There are also gas stations, doctors, government offices, and a few good, moderately priced restaurants.
