Straw Market Review
More than 10 years after the "world famous strawmarket" burned to the ground, vendors finally have a new permanent structure from which to sell their wares. Situated on the original site on Bay Street is a towering colonial-style marketplace housing hundreds of straw vendors selling straw bags, T-shirts, and other native souvenirs. The Straw Market is one place in the Bahamas where bartering is accepted, so it's best to wander around and price similar items at different stalls before sealing a deal.
