A scenic 10-mi drive along the coast from downtown Nassau brings you to this relaxed family restaurant, which has a great ocean view. The food is delicious, but service tends to be slow, so sit and enjoy the view or challenge your tablemate to a game of Connect Four. The fresh seafood dinner served just steps from the beach is a real treat—conch, grouper, and crawfish are the heavy hitters. Try the "smudder groupre"—a tasty local fish literally smothered in onions,
peppers, and other vegetables. Dine outside or in, and toast the sunset with a fresh-fruit banana daiquiri—a house specialty.

Yes, the service was slow and the food was just OK, but who cares? The view and location are great. There is nothing like sipping beer and eating a fresh conch salad with an ocean view like the one at Traveller's Restaurant. A great little stop as you travel around New Providence.

We stayed at Compass Point, and were happy to try something different (not much in the area, but that's part of the charm). Traveller's Rest has great local cuisine. The atmosphere is, well, Bahamian. No upscale here, but wonderful local flavor (pun intended). The waitress could have used smile lessons, but she was polite. We had local stuff: conch chowder, grouper, peas & rice. All excellent!
