The wharf that leads into Rawson Square is the first view that cruise passengers encounter after they tumble off their ships. Up to a dozen gigantic cruise ships, including the largest in the world, call on Nassau Cruise Port at any one time, and passengers spill out onto downtown, giving Nassau an instant, and constantly replenished, surge of life. The port and surrounding wharf area has recently undergone a $300 million dollar overhaul, transforming it into a world-class port of entry that serves as a destination unto itself. The new Nassau Cruise Port, expected to be complete in late 2022, includes an amphitheater providing entertainment, restaurants, bars, and shopping.
