Pelican Bay Review

Close to the beach, with rooms overlooking Port Lucaya Marina or waterfront along the canal, Pelican Bay has a funky modern appeal, and suites overflow with character and decorative elements collected from around the world. Building exteriors are fancifully trimmed in West Indian latticework and red barrel-tile roofs. The waterfront suites have extras like rain showers, espresso machines, and boxes built into the doors into which fresh pastries are delivered each morning (a full Continental breakfast is also available). On-site amenities include two great restaurants and a bar, three pools and a hot tub, and a small playground. The hotel is a quick and easy walk to Lucaya Beach and Port Lucaya Marketplace, and next door to UNEXSO—a plus for divers. Taino Beach is acessible via ferry.

    Pelican Bay at Lucaya Review

My wife and I came to Pelican Bay for a long weekend. The property is small, cozy and colorful (especially compared to the very large Radisson across the street). At the time of this review they were adding a new building - likely a new entrance. The rolls in the morning through the door are a nice touch (for those staying in a state room) and the state rooms themselves are spacious. The atmosphere in and around the Sabor restaurant is elegant and pleasant. As others have commented, the easy access to both UNEXSO and the market place make Pelican Bay very convenient. However, for all these pleasant attributes, the service was less than stellar. When we arrived, the person at the front desk seemed annoyed at having to help us. When I called the front desk later that day to find out if we needed dinner reservations at various restaurants (for friday and saturday) it seemed as though I woke her up from her nap - she was barely there and less then helpful.
