Café Matisse

$$-$$$, Eclectic, New Providence Island

User Rating: ***** 4.9

Fodor's Review:

Low-slung settees, stucco arches, and reproductions of the eponymous artist's works set a casually refined tone at this restaurant, owned by a husband-and-wife team -- he's Bahamian, she's northern Italian. Sit in the ground-floor garden under large white umbrellas or dine inside the century-old house for lunch or dinner. Start with salmon carpaccio, then dive into freshly made pasta such as duck-filled ravioli and lobster cannelloni, or such delights as pizza frutti di mare (topped with fresh local seafood).

One of the best on the Island

Posted by TH from Atlanta, GA on 9/19/06

There are not many good places to eat on the island but Cafe Matisse has lived up to its reputation. I highly suggest giving this a try you will not be disappointed.

Tiramisu To Die For

Posted by Ben from Annapolis, MD on 6/24/06

A must visit when in Nassua or staying at Atlantis. Forget the resturants on Paridise Island for Cafe Matisse is the best dining experience on the island. Atmosphere and service is excellent. The food is excellent and some of the best I've ever had in the world. Oh, did I say the Tiramisu is to die for!
