Palm Bay, one of George Town's most modern accommodations, is all about light and color. The bungalows have brightly painted, gingerbread-trim exteriors (like turquoise with hibiscus pink) and cheerfully sunny interiors with one or two bedrooms. There are five two-bedroom oceanfront villas, renting for $440 per night, for those wanting to splurge. They're clustered on oleander-lined boardwalk paths along a pretty sand beach and across the street on a hillside. Each unit has a patio and a kitchenette or kitchen. Kayaks and paddleboats are available at no charge to guests. The huge circular poolside bar and patio attracts what seems like everybody on the island for Saturday night parties with live music. The restaurant ($-$$) serves coconut shrimp, conch burgers, barbecue ribs, and a Bahamian special of the day.
