$-$$, Eleuthera Island
Fodor's Review:
If decompressing in a hammock is your thing, you're in luck -- you'll find one on the private patios of all 12 rooms at this sedate hotel, 50 feet from the lapping waves of a calm cove on the east side of the island, 6 mi north of Governor's Harbour. Rooms, which are in three two-story colonial-style buildings painted exuberant pink, lime green, and yellow, are decorated with teak furniture imported from Indonesia as well as Italian tiles, which reflect the taste of the married Italian expats who own and manage the property. Their influence also pervades the restaurant's ($$-$$$) Italian-Bahamian menu: buffalo mozzarella and other delicacies are flown in to complement the local fare. Snorkeling equipment and catamaran and kayak use are included in the rates.
