Eleuthera and Harbour Island Restaurants

Tippy's

Tippy's Review

Despite its barefoot-casual environment (old window shutters used as tabletops, sand in the floor's crevices), the menu at this open-air beach bistro is a sophisticated mix of Bahamian and European, with a menu that changes daily based on the fresh local products available. Expect things like lobster salad, specialty pizzas, and fresh fish prepared with some sort of delectable twist. This place may look like a beach shack, but everything has been well planned—it even imported a French chef to satisfy discriminating palates. Try to grab a table on the outdoor deck, which has a fantastic view of the beach. Locals and visitors keep this place hopping year-round, and there's live music on Saturday nights.

Very casual, very comfortable. Fast service. Suprisingly good food; MUCH better than most mainland mid-tier chain restaurants.

Super location- Poponi beach tidal pools immediately outside at low tide (great fun for children). Currently no lunch service; but now accepting MasterCard.

We took a day trip to Eleuthera and everyone recommended Tippy's for lunch. The view and atmosphere are incredible, but the food was mediocre. It's tough to find Tippy's since it is a good ways down a back road. We had to ask for directions three times and barely found it! It's worth the experience for the oceanfront view and open-air cleanliness, but don't expect much from the cuisine!

We travel to Eleuthera every summer and always go to Tippy's on our first night. The food is wonderful and there is something for everyone - the choices are plentiful and the quality is, I think, as good as a lot of the restaurants we enjoy in Houston. The restaurant is right on the beach so you can eat while listening to the waves crash. Sometimes we just stop by for frozen drinks. This place is a must for our annual trip.
